Area AttractionsAdditional island activities include exciting dolphin encounters that can be professionally videotaped, fishing trips, exotic bird and iquana farms, a marine reserve, hiking, and picturesque "mangrove boat tours" out of Oaks Ridge (Be sure to ask your boat driver to take you to "The Hole in the Wall," a clandestine bar on stilts.....talk about local color!).And definitely don't miss the opportunity to spend time at "West End," which is also a popular area full of charming shops, a fabulous little bakery, a grocery store called "Woody's" and several restaurants (Papagayo's is especially popular). West End also offers night life at both the "Twisted Toucan" and "Fosters." To reach West End, a water taxi can pick you up at the dock close to the house or you can have a cab come to "Emerald Beach" - the name for our specific enclave at West Bay Beach. In town, you can also find additional services such as a grocery store, several "deposito's" for purchasing beer and soda, a pharmacy, convenience stores, banks, photo development etc. (For those of you so inclined, car rentals are also available for about $50.00 - $60.00 per day) |
